19th and 20th July 2014 - Tolpuddle Festival.
Tolpuddle Festival this year runs over the weekend including 19th and 20th July 2014. The festival is held on the site near the village located in Dorset. It celebrates the initial formation of British trade unionism and recalls their early persecution (which has continued to greater and lesser degrees ever since). Capitalist media (BBC etc.) will, of course, give little or no coverage.
The SLP will, as usual, be having a stall in the main marquee on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th. Members, supporters and friends are invited to give us a hand in the running of the stall. We shall meet up on the Sunday for the afternoon march, (complete with banners), which starts off from the main site.
For further details on the site and events, refer to the official Tolpuddle Festival web information.
4th and 5th September 2014 - The Long March on Newport.
In September 2014 (4th and 5th) NATO will bring its summit to Wales. The ‘Long March on Newport’ is one of many protests against the summit. Our protest will be a colourful and vibrant opposition to NATO, meandering purposefully through Wales during August and arriving in Newport to deliver the message ‘Wales Says No to NATO’ in time for the start of the summit.
Saturday 13th December 2014 - Miners Memorial Wreath Laying and Meeting - SLP East Midlands.
Regional Organiser, Paul Liversuch will lay a wreath at the Miners statue in Swadlincote at 12.15pm followed at 1pm by a public meeting at Sharpe's Pottery Museum Swadlincote DE11 9DG.
